The weather is no excuse not to go to Oslo

Urban weekends come at a high price in peripheral Norway. Meet a national specialty: "kolonnekøyring".

It was clearly not meant to be. As time drew closer to Friday, the weather forecasts grew grimmer. "Stay at home on Friday"! "You should have a good reason to try and cross the mountain on Friday". Simone's stubborn insistence on driving there herself, come what may, was transformed into preparedness planning, to the point where the car trunk filled up with sleeping bags, blankets, woolen sweaters, digging equipment and hot drinks. Then - wisely - we decided to go for the bus, and made it accross the closed mountain pass road while a couple of hundred cars were held back. For the first time, a 7-hour bus ride seemed immensely comfortable.

Super-efficient Simone decides to work.

Idle Idi decides to interrupt.

So does Gard, on his way to a weekend of psycho drama workshops.

Our struggles to get there were rewarded with endless amounts of winter sunshine along Akerselva.

Former factory building at Sagene, now featuring sun shades

Possibly someone with a cold bum.

Simone, that is illegal!
