My office has its own office wolf. Nansen is his name. Though by some described as "autustic" due to his economic approach to social interaction, Nansen has on one or two occasions demonstrated an impressive ability to become fascinated with objects and beings beyond the deer, moose, fox and his beloved owner - Hanna.
These occasions include:
1. people who possess or have recently been in direct contact with mandarins (a behaviour giving rise to the nickname "Mandarin Wolf"),
and (as the photograph reveals)
2. my colleague's baby grandson, Ask. The latter encounter reportedly resulted in Nansen getting up from his more retreated waiting position, moving over to the window and having a closer look at the object of his fascination over an extended period of time, while Ask stretched out and made keen sounds to the effect of "There! There!". This proved an unexpectedly welcome source of entertainment for wolf and child alike, allowing granddad to return to his computer to work.
The bloggee declined the offer to comment on this entry, as well as confirming the rumour that he frequently reads the contents of Terje's computer screen from the window behind Terje's back.
